Imagine a generation of youth all across Western New York, fulfilling their hope to lead...not just enviable lives of individual achievement, but admirable lives of civic engagement…
Imagine what that future would look like; a future led by a generation of successful former Club members; of productive and responsible citizens…
Imagine what it will be like when it's their turn to lead. Just imagine.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo strives to ensure all of our Members dreams turn into reality and they will be successful when called upon to lead. One way that we can ensure that this happens is through our It Just Takes One…Annual Campaign. It takes just One individual, One moment, One action to make a difference in the life of a child. Will you be that One who ensures a member received a hot dinner? Will you be the One to ensure a member received that extra hour of tutoring to be successful? Or will you be the One whose support sent a graduating senior off to college with a scholarship?
During 2008 we have opened our commercial kitchen at our Babcock site and can now serve 8,500 hot meals a week to our 16 sites. During the summer of 2008 we ran a pilot program introducing a new summer program curriculum with amazing results where every child advanced within grade level, some actually advanced to the next grade.
We know that it takes just One caring adult to make a lasting difference in the life of a child. Concentrating on youth who need us most, our sixteen sites and 135 employees provide programs in health, education, career exploration, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation. Most importantly, we specialize in character development. Every day, staff members at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo are faced with the task of providing young people with guidance, a sense of belonging and the skills they need to succeed in life. With their leadership of Greg Dearlove, we have received contributions from 100% of our Board of Directors. We hope that you will be that One and support this year’s One Campaign. It’s only with the support of caring individuals that we are able to invest in the future of our young people for a better tomorrow.
You can continue to create this opportunity – to develop relationships with caring professionals and to experience programs that build character – by making a financial contribution to our Clubs. Support the It Just Takes One... 2008-09 Annual Campaign and help create this opportunity.
